Here at Primrose Hill we care very
much about the impact the human race has on the environment and in our
small way try reduce this. This year I have decided to join the Green Tourism Business Scheme and
hope to be assessed for an award.
Previous visitors to Primrose Hill
will know that recycling is encouraged and we provide a compost bin and
watering cans.
We have now replaced our light bulbs with energy saver bulbs where
appropriate and the games room is being fitted with heat sensitive
lighting, so the lights will never be left on all night again!!
We are privileged to be surrounded by wonderful county side and some
beautiful and very old woodland. We have provided boxes for Blue Tits
and for our resident Tawny Owl …If you come and stay during the
summer you might see the owl and her owlets sitting in the oak tree
most nights.
Some guests have been lucky enough to see the badgers that live in
Tolman wood and “Percy” the pheasant and his harem seem to
like patrolling Primrose Hill.
Please do not be offended when you are asked to reduce the amount of
times you flush the loo and to use the washing line provided when ever
the weather is good. Of course it saves money but more importantly
every little helps the environment.
If you are able to, we can suggest places
to visit on foot, either leaving your car here at Primrose Hill or by
making a short journey and then exploring on foot or by public
transport.
Buying local produce reduces the carbon
emissions used in transportation…..and it tastes so much better.
Look at the link on our website for more details abut local food and
drink.
We will let you know how our application to
the Green Tourism Business Scheme goes….and we look forward to
welcoming you to a greener holiday experience!
